VINTAGE AIRLINE BAGS – THE STORY!

My first memory of flying abroad was at the tender age of four. It was the late 70’s and to be boarding a plane seemed like a magical adventure for me as a small boy. I still get nostalgic when I think about the voyage when I discovered the miracle of aviation for the first time. This experience eventually gravitated me to a career in civil aviation as a Commercial Airline Pilot. In those days an Air hostess would come along the aisle and present all travelling passengers with their own flight bags, within these bags was a toiletries case, slippers, blindfolds, along with all sorts of paraphernalia to make your flight comfortable and enjoyable.

To me these airline bags were like gold dust, although cheaply made due to the technology of the era they still looked cool and stylish. Retrojet endeavours to recapture those bygone times showcasing our vintage airline bags emblazoned with famous corporate logos of some of the greatest airlines of all time. One such bag which stands out for me is the Pan Am bag. Pan Am (Pan American Airlines) began by providing charter flights way back in the 1930s but sadly ceased trading in 1991. In their heyday Pan Am was busy ferrying passengers all around the globe, and one could instantly recognise the trademark blue globe logo which without doubt even today remains one of the most iconic logos.

You can browse and buy our retro bags that scream nostalgia from all angles. There is coolness about these bags, as if they have come straight from the 1960s or the 1970s, each one of them has its own cheeky charm. They are perfect gift or flight accessory, and can hold various essentials; I use mine to carry travel documents, toiletries and even my laptop as they definitely do make good weekend bags or sports bags. Just one look at the bags transports you back in time, the time of classic airlines some of which have ceased trading over the years, their brand logos were distinctive and unmistakable conjuring fond memories. Retrojet now sells these retro bags in a variety of designs and colour options and each one of them has a unique sense of appeal. Retrojet will continually add to the range, and if you have any ideas or requests on logos you’d like to see revived, please email me at: info@retro-jet.com
